Historic buildings and monuments, natural heritage, cultural traditons, names, places, art and literature form part of the rich cultural heritage of Northern Ireland and are as much a part of our present and our future as they are of our past. Some aspect of culture and heritage touches upon every walk of public and private sector life as well as every sector group represented here. Like every other group, much of the information held in relation to culture and heritage has some spatial dimension that allows it to be integrated into a GIS. A geographic information strategy will expand the potential for collaborative linkages within and beyond government for those with a vested interest in culture and heritage related issues within Northern Ireland.
